Yin yoga is a practice to aid in balancing the hectic lives we all live using props to support the body to hold postures for anywhere from 3 to 5 minutes.  The use of supports and props promotes lengthening and hydration of the fibrous connective tissues that surround the muscles and joints.  In class each practitioner is invited to find their own edge of resistance for each posture to allow them to work with the body they bring to class that day, rather than pushing the body to conform to a “perfect” posture.  This can aid in increasing joint mobility in addition to hydrating the fascial webs throughout the body.  Yin can also be a more meditative practice assisting practitioners to draw their awareness away from the noise and haste of the outside world into themselves through breathing, mantras, or simply enjoying the silence.
For this class we will be using many different props to support our physical bodies in the postures, with offerings of breathing and mantra practices to draw your attention inward to the energetic body if you so desire.  Each week we will journey through the body, finding the spots where tension can be carried and work together to release that tension before landing blissfully in Savasana. 
All bodies and abilities are welcome and celebrated in this class.
